This year’s New Sweden History Conference topic is Bridging Many Worlds: Exploring Concepts of Changing Cultural Identities in the New Sweden Colony.
The colonial Mid-Atlantic region was a mixture of Lenape, Susquehannock, Swedish, Finnish, English, and Dutch peoples. This theme invokes exploration of physical and sociopolitical environmental impacts on cultural practices. How did experiences of migration affect traditional customs and concepts of identity during the period, 1638- 1776?
This is a hybrid event. The in-person element takes place at Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library. The virtual audience will partake over Zoom. The in-person event includes lunch.
