Välkommen till a weekend of Swedish folk music and dance!
Folklore Village's annual Fall Swedish Music & Dance Weekend celebrates the traditional music and dances of Dalarna, Sweden, as brought to the United States by Edwin Johnson when he emigrated from Dalarna in 1924. Along with his family, Edwin kept the region's traditional fiddling style alive in the United States, even as the style faded back home in Sweden. Today, Edwin's grandson, National Heritage Fellow Paul Dahlin, continues to keep this fiddling tradition alive.
2024 marks 100 years since Edwin Johnson immigrated to the U.S., and 50 years since he first visited Folklore Village. This year's Fall Swedish Weekend will feature fiddling workshops lead by Paul Dahlin and additional special guests, nyckelharpa workshops taught by Becky Weis and DoAnn Holzman, and dance workshops lead by Roo Lester & Larry Harding. The festival also includes evening parties, a cultural session, delicious cultural meals prepared fresh in-house by RedBarn Catering, and much more!
All ages and experience levels are welcome!
