ASI Night at Pillsbury House + Theatre presents the play

On ASI night, have a pre-show dinner or happy hour at FIKA, drive a few blocks south to Pillsbury House + Theatre to catch the show and stay for a post-show discussion with the director, actors and Rachel Wilson-Broyles, the play’s translator and ASI Swedish language instructor, who worked with Jonas to adapt this body of work for English speaking audiences.

From a staged reading at ASI in 2016, Jonas Hassen Khemiri’s play ≈[almost equal to], directed by Noël Raymond, will debut in the U.S. as a full collaborative production with ASI for a run at Pillsbury House + Theatre, September 16 – October 4, 2017.

Hassen Khemiri is one of Sweden’s best-known contemporary writers, and this outrageously dark political comedy ≈ [Almost Equal To] premiered to sold-out audiences at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm. In the play, everyone is overrun by numbers, begging, earning, scheming and stealing as they collide with the economy surrounding them. Politically subversive, ≈ [almost equal to] is a sharp exploration of money in modern life.

The cast includes Randy Reyes, Sun Mee Chomet, Paul De Cordova, Tracey Maloney and Jay Eisenberg
