Swedish Immigration in Argentina and Brazil
Presented by Jane Florine, ethnomusicologist who lived and worked in Argentina for many years.

In this talk, Jane Florine will discuss the Swedish immigration that took place to Brazil and Argentina in the late 19th and 20th centuries. Oberá, located in the northeast area of Argentina, was the largest Swedish colony in Latin America. To this day, Swedish culture – especially Scandinavian folk dance – is preserved in Oberá, the home of Argentina’s National Immigration Festival, along with an interest in Swedish genealogy.

Cost is free/Swedish American Genealogical Society members; $10/non-members to participate. Reservations appreciated and can be made via email genealogy@samac.org or by calling the museum.
