This year, as you can see, our family is planning to meet in Halmstad to gather the descendents of Anders & Kirstin Jonsson together. As of this date, 13 are coming from the US and Hong Kong to meet their "cousins" who represent the third, fourth and five and sixth generations who continue to live, study and work and who have retired to this attractive old town on the southwest coast.
Now, what would you tell those who will be seeing Halmstad and Halland for the first time? How would you share your experiences from living and working here?
What would you tell them when they ask you about the "Swedish Way"? If you have been to America, what constracts between the US and Sweden interest you the most?
When these Swedish-Americans prepare to return home, what is there about Sweden and especially Halmstad that you want them to carry with them and to hold dear about their Swedish heritage and modern day experience?
And, what do you think might be among their expectations? Do you think that they will carry the typical stereotypes about Sweden that--unfortunately--endure generation to generation?
