Zlatan criticized for moose hunt

Swedish football superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic criticized by animal rights groups.

Swedish football superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic was criticized by animal rights groups after shooting an 1,100 pound moose during a hunting trip to the Åre resort area in Jämtland. According to the newspaper Expressen, Ibrahimovic took advantage of the mid-season break to enjoy one of his preferred pastimes.
The Paris Saint Germain striker is said to have killed the moose with a single shot through the heart. The newspaper reported that Ibrahimovic was "happy with his trophy".
However, Camilla Björkborn, general secretary of Sweden's Animal Rights' Union (www.djurensratt.se) was dismayed, telling the newspaper that Ibrahimovic's actions were regrettable.
"It is always problematic when famous people do things like that, because then it looks like they support this type of activities," she said.
Hunting is legal in Sweden, where an estimated 100,000 moose are killed each year and close to 500,000 are hunters. Ibrahimovic, who has been a licensed hunter since 2010, has spoken of his love of hunting in the past.
In related news, the Swedish international soccer star commented on Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter‘s list of the country’s 150 greatest athletes of all time. In a classic Zlatan comment after he finished second to tennis legend Björn Borg he told the paper "Thank you, but to finish second is like finishing last." Asked where he felt he should have been, he said “I would have been No. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, with due respect to the others.”
