The Hammarby hockey team has been training with a puck inspired by Alvar Aalto.
A famous glass vase has inspired a prototype in hockey equipment. The 1936 design of the Finnish designer Alvar Aaltos Savoy vase inspired by melting snow and ice had Hammarby's team training with a puck of the same shape. Southern Stockholms Hammarby team recently tested the puck during a workout.
According to the players, its great for training. Its unpredictable and flutters more than a standard puck, meaning one has to focus more than usual. Though the Aalto puck wont do for play in any World Cup final, there is a lot interest from clubs and individuals who would like to practice with it. Its not in commercial production yet.
