Record volume of medals for Sweden

Sweden is third in the medal table in Falun, after Norway and Germany, the latter which celebrated great triumphs in ski jumping and Nordic combinations.

Top five nations:
1) Norway, 20 medals (11 gold, 4 silver, 5 bronze).
2) Germany 8 medals (5 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze).
3) Sweden, 9 medals (2 gold, 4 silver, 3 bronze).
4) France, 6 medals (1 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze).
5)Austria, 5 medals (1 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze).
Only counting cross country skiing events, Sweden comes in second place, with nine medals after Norway’s 14.
The earlier record is eight medals from the World Championships in Val di Fiemme in1991. Sweden took two gold, five silver and one bronze and finished fourth in the overall medal table behind Norway, the Soviet Union and Austria.
