Sweden plays for gold

After defeating Brazil, Sweden's women's team goes on to the soccer final on August 19 against Germany.

The Swedish team, which was clobbered 5-1 by Brazil in the group stage last week, used a similar defensive tactic that was so efficient in the match with the U.S. to win. The match ended 0-0 and Sweden gained the upper hand in the shootouts, winning with 4-3 during the penalty kicks.

Both the U.S. and Brazilian women's teams were considered favorites for the gold and the Swedish team has been criticized for using what many consider a boring defensive tactic to gain the upper hand.
Be that as it may, Sweden is winning using a tactic that is considered former U.S. National Team coach Pia Sundhage's strongest suit.
