Two Swedish favorites

Pippi and pancakes return in a great family program at the Swedish American Museum in Chicago.

Image

A favorite literary character comes to life as the pigtailed charmer joins in the fun at "Pancakes with Pippi on March 12, 2016. This fun participation program begins at 9 a.m. at the Swedish American Museum in the Andersonville neighborhood of Chicago. Children and their families can enjoy making crafts, singing, dancing and learning how to create Pippi-style pancakes (you'll have to come and find out for yourself what those are!).
The infamously strong, red-headed character will be portrayed in person as she mingles and teaches during her visit. Her special appearance is part of a year-long celebration of the Swedish American Museum, which is 40 years old this year.
The Pippi Lngstrump (Pippi Longstocking) stories, written by beloved Swedish author Astrid Lindgren, have charmed readers in over 70 languages throughout the world; Pippi recently celebrated an anniversary herself her 70th. The books are available for purchase in English in the museum store, as are plush toys of Pippi, her horse and Mr. Nilsson.
Reservations can be made in advance through this link. The museum is located at 5211 N. Clark Street, a few doors north of Foster Avenue.
