Apply for a great Swedish adventure
If you read Nordstjernan, you are likely a descendant of one — or more — of the 1.3 million Swedes who immigrated to America between 1846-1930. Now Swedish Americans have the chance to return to the land of their forefathers and journey throughout Sweden to discover cultural heritage: Meter Television is conducting a nationwide search for outgoing and adventurous Americans with Swedish ancestry to find their roots and see their motherland for their reality show, Allt för Sverige (Great Swedish Adventure). They are looking for eager, adventurous people ages 20 to 40 and up to age 70. Chosen participants will compete in cultural challenges to discover their rich and fascinating roots while trying to win the grand prize: meeting their Swedish relatives. Interested? Swedish car manufacturer gets a jump-start
If you have followed Saab Automobile in recent years, you know it is now Nevs (National Electric Vehicle Sweden). The good news is that Nevs just got a giant order to supply 150,000 electric cars to China — meaning there may be a burst of hundreds of job opportunities at the manufacturing plant in Trollhättan. Starting in 2017, the main bodywork of the cars will be made in Trollhättan and then final assembly of the cars will be in Tianjin, China. The cars would be nearly identical to the Saab 9-3 from 2002, but smaller and electrically powered. The agreement should also include about 100,000 additional electric vehicles and the services of companies affiliated Nevs and Nevs owners. The contract, which is expected to go only until 2020, has a total value of 102 billion kronor ($11 billion).

Swedish actors light up the silver screen
What do Tarzan and The Danish Girl have in common? They are both hot movies starring Swedish actors. The Legend of Tarzan doesn’t open until July 2016, but actor Alexander Skarsgård, 39, worked for months before filming even began to build his body into the muscular hero who was raised in the jungle. In this new movie, Tarzan and Jane have made it out of the jungle and into civilized life ... at least temporarily. Skarsgård was born in Stockholm, Sweden, the oldest son of actor Stellan Skarsgård.
The Danish Girl is one of seven major movies Swedish actor Alicia Vikander, 27, has been in this year alone. The star is rising fast, taking the silver screen by storm after childhood dreams of ballet dancing were interrupted by a key opportunity to act. Born in Gothenburg, Sweden to veteran Swedish stage actor Maria Fahl Vikander, perhaps that’s not really a surprise. The Danish Girl, was released in U.S. theaters on Nov. 27.
