Princess Madeleine celebrating World Childhood

The World Childhood Foundation, which works to prevent abuse and exploitation of children around the world recently celebrated 15 years.

Princess Madeleine and her husband Chris O’Neill were away from their home in New York to celebrate The World Childhood Foundation’s 15th anniversary at Berns Hotel in Stockholm on Sept. 9. Together with Queen Silvia, the foundation’s founder, Crown Princess Victoria and her husband Prince Daniel, the royal family members attended a gala dinner in honor of the anniversary.
World Childhood Foundation works to prevent abuse and exploitation of children around the world, and supports and assists victims of abuse. There are currently over 100 programs in 17 countries.
On September 8, the third International Council meeting was held at the Royal Palace, where they discussed issues common to the four sister foundations in Sweden, USA, Brazil and Germany. The Queen welcomed chairman Kenneth Bengtsson, who discussed the plans for the coming year and Swedish journalist Caroline Engvall spoke about childhood sex trafficking. Princess Madeleine closed the meeting by discussing the foundation’s ThankYou campaign, a global initiative that aims to highlight the importance of a safe and loving childhood.
