American superstar performs in Stockholm
For the first time in Eurovision Song Contest history, a non-contestant superstar will perform on stage. American singer and actor Justin Timberlake will sing at the Grand Finale in Stockholm on Saturday, May 14. Luckily for Timberlake and Eurovision fans everywhere, the Grand Finale will be televised live — also for the first time ever — in the U.S. at 3 p.m. EST via Logo, and streaming on LogoTV.com and the LogoTV mobile app. He will be singing his new song, Can’t Stop the Feeling, co-written and co-produced with Swedish songwriters Max Martin and Shellback.

Ikea makes us feel good
Many of us can relate to John T. McCrann, who wrote a blog recently stating: "Some of my favorite items are ones we got from Ikea. I look at them and smile thinking of how I transformed them from slabs and screws into functioning furniture." This sense of pride has a name: The Ikea Effect. This social phenomenon, named for the Swedish mega home goods retailer, was identified by notable university researchers, giving it a place in any number of journals and dictionaries. The science behind it shows that consumers place a disproportionately high value on products they have created — and, of course, Ikea requires its buyers to assemble many of its furniture products. Results on the IKEA Effect tests were first published in 2011 after experiments based on whether consumers would pay a higher price for products that required self-assembly showed that self-assembly impacts the evaluation of a product by its consumers. When people construct a particular product themselves, even if done badly, they value the end result more than if they had not put any effort into its creation.

Adele loves Swedes
A Swedish couple was invited on stage during Adele’s May 3 concert in Copenhagen. The singer noticed the fans’ quirky ice cream cone-shaped glasses and brought them up for a closer look, but she was surprised when André Söderberg got down on one knee and proposed to his boyfriend right in front of her and the 10,000-plus sold-out crowd. Söderberg, who happened to have a plastic ring from earlier in the day when he and Simon Carlsson were buying costumes, said, "I had been thinking about asking him to marry me but when Adele invited us to the stage, it just happened.” Simon excitedly said "yes," and Adele offered to be a surrogate mum to the couple. She told them: “I’d love to have a baby with someone Swedish!” Everyone cheered. “I might think I'm deaf now, but it was the best concert ever, a wonderful night," said Andre with Simon, who hope to tie the knot by the end of the year.
