October 24 in Swedish History
2004—The motorway Södra länken (the Southern Link), which connects Essingeleden in Stockholm with Värmdöleden in Nacka, is inaugurated. The construction had begun in 1997, and the total cost is $800-$900 million. Södra länken was built primarily to decrease the traffic in the center of Stockholm, and is part of the planned Stockholm ring road, a half-completed road around central Stockholm.
