SWEDISH- AMERICAN ART EXHIBIT IN MOORHEAD

The Rourke Art Museum, 521 Main Ave. in Moorhead,Minnesota is presenting an exhibit of the landscapes of Swedish-American artist Birger Sandzén. This artist, born and educated in Sweden, came to America in 1894 and taught for his whole career at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas, an ELCA institution.

The exhibit, “My Father’s World”, shows the cultural aspirations of the Augustana Swedish Lutheran Synod. The works are from the collection of Dr. James Kaplan of Fargo. The exhibit is under the patronage of His Excellency Jonas Hafström, Royal Ambassador of Sweden to the United States. The exhibit is in the second floor East gallery of the Museum and is open from 1 to 5 PM Friday through Sunday until October 1.
