Dr. Jim Kaplan, Professor Emeritus of French at Minnesota State University Moorhead will speak on the Scandinavian detective novels that have been enjoying a world-wide vogue. They have had huge successes as books, on TV and in films. Featured in Dr. Kaplan�s presentation will be �Jar City� by Icelandic author Arnaldur Indridason, �Redbreast � by Norwegian author Jo Nesb� and �The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo� by Swedish author Stieg Larsson. Reading these novels of crimes and the detectives that solve them is a great way to gain an up close and personal view of the real life of Scandinavians today.
