Dr. Jim Kaplan, Professor Emeritus of French at Minnesota State University Moorhead will speak on the Scandinavian detective novels that have been enjoying a world-wide vogue. They have had huge successes as books, on TV and in films. Featured in Dr. Kaplans presentation will be Jar City by Icelandic author Arnaldur Indridason, Redbreast by Norwegian author Jo Nesb and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Swedish author Stieg Larsson. Reading these novels of crimes and the detectives that solve them is a great way to gain an up close and personal view of the real life of Scandinavians today. The program is free and open to the public
