Family: We have just learned that we will be the guests of cousin Anders Westerberg, assistant to the provincial governor, on a tour of the castle in Halmstad. This castle was built by Christian IV of Danmark in the 17th century when Halland not yet a part of Sweden. At the time, the town was surrounded by a high wall and moat. Anders has been employed by the Halland government for many years and has acted as chauffeur to several Governors (Lanhovning). The Governors are appointed representatives of the majority government in Stockholm A few years ago during a visitto Halmstad by King Carl IVX Gustaf, a protester hit the king in the face with a cream pie. Anders was right there with his handkerchief and his photo appeared all over Sweden assisting the king with the removal of the contents of the pie. I do not have a followup report as to what happened to the protester.
