The Midsommar Fest will begin at 7 pm on the Parish Hall lawn in Swedesburg, Iowa on June 25. Each year descendants of one of the area's pioneer families are honored, and this year features the family of John and Charles Hultquist, brothers who immigrated to Henry County from Sweden in the early 1880's. After the installation of the traditional decorated majstång, or maypole, the Sandquists, Eernie and John will perform a short concert that will be followed by an ice cream social. The event is free and open to the public.
The Swedish musicain Ernie Sandquist and his son John will headline the entertainment at this year's annual Midsommar Fest in Swedesburg, Iowa on friday , Jun 25. Sandquist was born in Jokkmokk, sweden, and currently lives in Rockford, Illinois. He plays the accordian and John plays the bass, and the repertoire includes swedish folk music and traditional dance music.
