The Military Experience of Oscar Wilhelm Carlson --
Program in Sesquicentennial Observance of the American Civil War providing firsthand descriptions of military service of a Swedish immigrant including preliminary training in Milwaukee, putting down anti-draft riots, and extended service with Union forces in the Mississippi Valley.

Part 2 will follow at Society’s May meeting with program of another Civil War Swedish immigrant soldier from the Bishop Hill Colony.
