The Scandinavian Cultural Center of Santa Cruz will present a program by Dr. James Kaplan, professor emeritus at Minnesota State University Moorhead. Dr. Kaplan will speak on Scandinavian Crime Fiction Today. Scandinavian detective novels are enjoying a world-wide vogue right now and have had huge successes as books, on TV and in films. Featured will be “The Draining Lake” by Icelandic author Arnaldur Indridason, “Redbreast “ by Norwegian author Jo Nesbø and “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” by Swedish author Stieg Larsson. The program will be held Feb. 3 at Viking Hall, 240 Plymouth St. Santa Cruz, starting with a social hour at 6:30 and program at 7:00.
