On Tuesday April 30th, 2013 the 14th annual Newport Beach Film Festival will present its Swedish Spotlight, an evening celebration of Swedish cinema and culture. The event will feature the Regional Premiere of the highly-acclaimed thriller, The Hypnotist (Hypnotisren) (2012 Sweden, 122 minutes) followed by a festive post screening gala.
The Hypnotist, based on the international best-seller, was Swedens foreign Oscar submission for 2012. Director Lasse Hallstrm, crafts a dark detective film in which a police officer attempts to use a hypnotist to solve a series of murders.
The post-screening celebration will take place at the European post gala in the center of Fashion Island. The evening will include several top Orange County restaurants serving signature tastings, multiple DJs, live entertainment and a special performance by Orange County Aerial Arts. Select Fashion Island retail partners will offer special in-store promotions and entertainment.
The Swedish Spotlight is supported by the Swedish American Chamber of Commerce - Los Angeles, SWEA Los Angeles, SWEA Orange County, UCLA Scandinavian Section, the Consulate General of Sweden - San Diego and the Consulate General of Sweden - San Francisco.
