Swedish troubadour Joel Karlsson from Vilhelmina Sweden will tour Minnesota and Wisconsin in June and July giving several concerts. We R Able, the North Chisago Historical Society, and the Vitalize! Studios of Art sponsor these performances: Sunday, June 30, 2 p.m. at the Vitalize! Studios of Art in Chisago City, Tuesday, July 2, at the Rusheba Town Hall in Rush City during its picnic from 6-8 p.m., and Wednesday, July 3, at the Chisago County Senior Center, 38790 6th Ave, North Branch, at 2 p.m.
Donations are cheerfully accepted. Joel is a music teacher, and performs in churches, at cultural events, and for weddings. He says, “With my tour I want to contribute to the interest in Swedish culture and thus create closer links between the Swedish-American unions both in Sweden and the U.S. I feel that the Scandinavian song tradition is something very unique - a treasure that should be preserved and kept alive for coming generations. “ Learn more at his web site www.joelkarlsson.com.
Some of these concerts are made possible in part by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the East Central Regional Arts Council thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
