The Connected Car - How Close Are We Getting? Not if, but how?
At last month's auto show in Frankfurt the word "connected car" was used most frequently. Mega auto supplier Continental announced a partnership with IBM to help autonomous vehicles to market, with "zero accidents" as a possible result. Volvo has promised to injury proof its cars by 2020, GM and Carneige Mellon aim to develop technology to avoid car accidents etc.
In 2013 car manufacturer Tesla Motors deliver cars with applications that can be defined as a "connected car", but there are probably more to come in the future? New and existing players like HTC and Glympse plan to take a share of the pie of the new connected world. Is there a common definition of what the concept "connected car" is about and who will be the stakeholders in this new industry?
