Since 1977, The Delaware Swedish Colonial Society has hosted Lucia at Old Swedes Church in Wilmington, Delaware. The event features a traditional Lucia procession by Swedish American children from our area, traditional Swedish holiday music — including Bronwyn Bird who will be playing nyckelharpa, a traditional Swedish string instrument— and an opportunity to shop Swedish holidays treats at Hendrickson House.

This year’s Lucias are Colleen Draper, 15, daughter of Milton and Marylou Draper, III of New Castle, DE; and Elin Powell, 14, daughter of Doug and Jenny Powell of Landenberg, PA.

The Hendrickson House, decorated for a Swedish Christmas, will be open for tours and holiday shopping.
