Svenskar i Världen invites Orange County residents for fika: Svenskar i Världen is an organization that lobbies the Swedish government on behalf of Swedes abroad. They helped pass legislation to allow dual citizenship, postal voting from abroad, among others. Current lobbying activities includes to reduce the state pension tax for retirees living outside Sweden, and to regain lost Swedish citizenship for those who gave it up in the past.

On Saturday, February 15, 2014, you will have the chance to sign up to join SVIV at a discount rate, and also to enjoy a "fika" with the pastrychef of the year 2012, Cecilia Andersson. She is the head pastry chef at a famous bakery in central Stockholm. Cecilia will demonstrate how she makes some Swedish baked goods that we all can enjoy.
