Joanne Grüne-Yanoff last exhibited in Stockholm with a solo exhibition at Liljevalchs Konsthall in 2009. Since then, her work has been exhibited internationally in solo exhibitions in cities including New York, Berlin, Helsinki and Luxembourg, among others.

The artist returns to Stockholm, now her adopted hometown, to share her latest work in a solo exhibition at Detroit Stockholm, opening 11 April, 2014.

HappyThoughts leads the audience into a series of rooms, each of which holds a secret story. A walk through the exhibition takes the viewer into a space of quiet reflection and urgent, hidden, desires. As in the past, the artist uses a variety of materials and media to convey her powerful works, in order to address the multiple ways humans experience the world.

"The multiple narratives that her works conceptually articulate are only matched by her poetic and eclectic use of materials". Raul Zamudio, New York Arts Magazine

" Grüne-Yanoff calls to mind a female Bruce Nauman, and compares to Matthew Barney and Rebecca Horn for her muscular and poetic distillations".
J'N 'C magazine, Berlin

"Grüne-Yanoff's works are consistent and potent. Her sculpture and poetic photo and video based work continues to inspire the viewer.
Louis Grachos, Director, Austin Museum of Art
