Tips Promenad at Frandsen Park in August

Enjoying a walk in nature and exercising the brain at the same time is what happens during Tips Promenad. We R Able is offering this activity on Tuesday August 26 at the Dennis Frandsen County Park between Braham and Rush City. Leader Kriste Ericsson invites participants to join her on 10:30 a.m.

This is a game like a scavenger hunt, which originated in Sweden. The idea is to locate 13 questions in a park area, answer them, selecting from three possible choices for each one, and then check in with the leader to see how well one did. As it is also National Cherry Popsicle Day, prizes will feature that cool summer treat.

In Sweden the questions may be about the location, about nature, about world events, or about specialized subjects, and the competition can be serious and exciting. In these scenarios Ericsson has selected questions relating to summer and to the Frandsen Park. And how does one pronounce the name of the game? Tips pro-men-ODD.

Sample questions:
Question # 1.
As it’s also National Cherry Popsicle Day on August 26, guess what the prizes will be?
1. A blueberry popsicle
X. A cherry popsicle
2. A brownie

Question # 2.
The Dennis Frandsen Park has a lot of these kinds of birdhouses on the grounds:
1. Bird brain houses
X. Martin houses
2. Crow houses

Pre-registration is needed and there is a modest fee to participate. Please call 320-358-1220. We R Able provides accessible programs for adults with disabilities ages 14 and up, and the general public. All are welcome to attend. Volunteers are also welcome.
