A two-day program of diverse lectures and music for the public with distinguished Icelandic speakers and musicians. Topics include an overview of Iceland's history, Viking archaeology, intriguing parallels of Homer's epics and the Icelandic poetic edda and sagas, volcanology and seismology, human genome research, and carbon-free energy.
The program will be held on the beautiful campus of California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks. The event will begin with a reception 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Scandinavian Center and will continue with the program in Samuelson Chapel at 7 p.m. It will conclude with a dinner at 7 p.m. Saturday evening.
