Warm up a chilly January night with some Swedish yellow pea soup and a cup of punsch. The Men's Pea Soup Committee of the American Swedish Historical Museum is hosting the event, continuing the annual Pea Soup and Punch Supper: Ärtsoppa och punsch.
Enjoy a hearty bowl of soup, along with a glass of punsch. Dinner is also served with sharp Swedish cheese, bread, dessert, coffee and cash bar. It is the perfect way to shake off the cold of late January.
Ärtsoppa is usually served on Thursdays for lunch or dinner in Sweden during the winter and it dates back to medieval times. During that time, Sweden was a Catholic country so Fridays meant fasting. A hearty meal was necessary for the preceding night and it was usually served with the sweet arrack-based liquor called punsch.
Admission: $20/members of the museum; $25/non-members. Reservations are necessary since seating is limited, so hurry!
