Card weaving is an extremely old and important band weaving technique, commonly used in Scandinavia to create beautifully patterned bands for edging textiles or using as apron strings or belts.
In the early Iron Age card woven bands were used to create the starting and selvedge bands for warp weighted looms, and today those same bands might be put to use as decorative edging on a sweater, as straps for a bag, or as a stylish lanyard for glasses or keys.
