Join us on June 12 for a performance by jazz quartet Kaisas Machine, featuring acclaimed Finnish bass player and ASF Fellow Kaisa Mensivu with Max Light (guitar), Eden Ladin (piano), and Joe Peri (drums)!
With compositions ranging from bouncy to groovy, to celebratory to existential, Kaisas Machine was formed by Mensivu in 2015, and released the debut album In the Key of K in 2017. Now based in NYC, the group has brought new players into its orbit, and released the follow-up album Taking Shape with Greenleaf Music in 2023. With richly emotive and demanding writing, Mensivus music features a sense of story, a sonic richness and surprise. As Mensivu says, The music captures the magic of New York, where the atmosphere is open to new things.
