Join Professor Tom Birnie for a series of discussions to explore a breadth of films by Swedish director and screen writer Ingmar Bergman, who was one of the most influential film directors of all time. This course will introduce participants to his major films, beginning with his early productions in the 1950s and culminating half a century later. Among the themes to be explored and discussed will be personal relationships, faith, identity, despair, alienation and redemption.
