VIRTUAL Lunchtime Lecture:
Tom Olmstead hosts this free lecture about the Restauration and its replica ship that is retracing the 1825 voyage of 53 Norwegian immigrants (including Tom’s great-great-grandmother) seeking religious freedom. His presentation follows their journey from Norway to New York, through the Erie Canal to upstate New York, and later migrations to the Midwest, chronicling hardships and resilience.
Inspired by family artifacts found in an attic, including an 1825 passport and letters from his great-great-grandmother Sarah, Olmstead’s lifelong research honors the courage and enduring legacy of these early pioneers.
