Leo (John Gilbert) and Ulrich (Lars Hanson) are companions whose lifelong friendship is torn apart over their mutual love for the beautiful Felicitas (Greta Garbo). Directed by Clarence Brown and with photography by William H. Daniels.
Garbo is at her most alluring in this film, and the growing off-screen passion between her and Gilbert permeates their on-screen chemistry.
