Flutist and composer Elsa Nilsson is curating a full evening of music with something for everyone!

pm: Eleanor Dubinsky’s music encompasses the sultriness of bossa nova, the longing of soul, the vulnerability of folk, and the earthy sophistication of jazz. The polyglot chanteuse has been favorably compared to Sade, Portishead, Brazilian Girls, and Joni Mitchell. Peter Johnson from KUNC FM 91.5 praised her “silky, sultry voice” and altruistic aspirations. “We were impressed by her sense of mission as an artist, and we couldn’t help swaying to her music!”

pm: Wendy Johnson and Brendan Hackett have been writing and publishing songs together since 2008. Wendy Johnson, a southern California native, found early success in the 2000’s with her band Atticus. Wendy was a regular fixture on Lilith Fair and played up and down the west coast. Wendy is also an accomplished studio vocalist, singing back up and reference vocals for major Hollywood studios and producers. Brendan Hackett has been playing and recording music for over 15 years. He is known for his heart-felt live performances and intricate studio guitar work. Brendan has played many of New York’s top clubs, including the Wetlands, Brooklyn Bowl, CBGBs and Le Poisson Rouge.

pm: Combining the rich heritage of her Swedish homeland with traditional jazz and varied musical influences from around the world, Nilsson and her quartet will showcase arrangements of Swedish Traditional music as well as original compositions. Nilsson has built a solid career and reputation upon my belief that all folk music (including jazz) has a common thread, and that by weaving those threads together, a deeper, more intimate understanding amongst contrasting cultures can be reached. During the performances you can expect a wide range of styles to surface in an exciting journey through cultures and time periods as the band weaves different paths though the music.

pm: Nickel and Dime OPS is a jazz fused hip hop band based out of New York City. The group is lead by Queens lyricist, Nickel Killsmics, and features female vocalist, Victoria Cave alongside a septet of jazz musicians playing hip hop beats. The combination of thought provoking lyrics and soulful grooves headed by their powerful 3 piece horn section has been getting crowd approval at many major New York venues.
