The Uppsala University U.S. Alumni Chapter proudly invites alumni to join us for our annual Fall Speaker Event. We are honored to feature Professor Peter Wallensteen, Senior Professor of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University, as our guest speaker. Prior to being appointed Senior Professor in 2012, Professor Wallensteen was the first holder of the Dag Hammarskjöld Chair of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University from 1985 to 2012. As of 2006, he is also Research Professor of Peace Studies at University of Notre Dame in Indiana, USA.

Professor Wallensteen‘s work is used worldwide, particularly in conflict resolution, peacemaking, and conflict prevention. He has written extensively on these and related subjects, notably economic sanctions. His presentation aims to explore the trends that can be found in today’s global conflicts and the significant challenges now faced by the UN.
