Helena Liljeblad, Robert Osborne and George Hemcher present a concert of Nordic music highlighting toys and play, childhood, nursery rhymes, and nostalgia in the form of art songs, children’s stories, folksongs, and dance music.

Beloved songs by the Swedish composers Wilhelm Stenhammar, Carl Michael Bellman, Bo Linde and Wilhelm Peterson-Berger will complement familiar songs of Richard Rodgers, Frank Loesser and Victor Herbert.

George Hemcher is a conductor/director, pianist and tenor. He is the music director of the opera scenes programs at Hofstra University.

Helena Liljeblad has performed on many New York City stages as a soloist as well as in ensemble settings. She has also performed at several Scandinavian cultural events around the city.

Robert Osborne, bass-baritone, has sung many roles in operas ranging from Bernstein to Weill. He is on the teaching faculties of Barnard College and Vassar College.

Presented in conjunction with the exhibition Swedish Wooden Toys on view at the Bard Graduate Center
