Scandinavian crime novels have had successes as books, on TV and in films. Their main characters like Lisbeth Salander, Kurt Wallander and Harry Hole have gained international attention. Featured in this program by Dr. Jim Kaplan of Minnesota State University Moorhead, will be “The Draining Lake” by Icelandic author Arnaldur Indridason, “Redbreast “ by Norwegian author Jo Nesbø and “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” by Swedish author Stieg Larsson. Detective novels are a fine opportunity to learn about the real lives of Scandinavian people today. They are fun and exciting and introduce the reader to literature and the humanities. The program is free and open to the public.
