"Every four years Lindsborg Swedish Folk Dancers holds its largest fundraising event, the LSFD Sweden Tour Auction. We're excited to say it's that time again! This quadrennial event is a special and large undertaking; this year the group hopes to raise a minimum of $14,000 to help with trip expenses," says Chandra Cooper, Auction Committee Representative.
The Lindsborg Swedish Folk Dancers (LSFD) Auction & Bake Sale Event opens at 12:30 p.m. and the live auction begins at 1:30 p.m.
Lindsborg Swedish Folk Dancers, a group of 40 high school-aged students, performs locally, nationally and internationally promoting Lindsborg and its unique Swedish-American heritage. Every four years this group of young community ambassadors travels to Sweden, experiencing and learning about its regional culture while publicizing Lindsborg, and the state of Kansas, through shared-tradition folk dance and costume.
To make such a special promotional tour possible, each year freshmen dancers and their families commit to four years of performance, promotion, and fundraising. This coming June, following Lindsborg's 2016 Midsummer festivities, the culmination of four full years' worth of hard work and dedication leads this unique group of local youth back to the shores of Sweden.
The LSFD would like to thank everyone for their support in helping them make this year's event successful, especially to their top tier (Lutefisk) sponsor, The Smoky Valley Community Foundation with a $1000 Enhancement Fund grant.
