The Lund Male Chorus (Lunds Studentsångare) will perform in the Bay Area with concerts:
Oct. 9 at Zellerbach Hall in Berkeley
Oct. 11 at Mission Dolores Basilica in San Francisco

Sunday, Oct. 9 at 3 p.m.: Esa-Pekka Salonen, Philharmonia Orchestra, London and the Lund Male Chorus
Where: The Zellerbach Hall, University of California, Berkeley

Esa-Pekka Salonen, principal conductor & artistic advisor of the Philharmonia Orchestra, London, with the Lund Male Chorus (Lunds Studentsångare) as special guest chorus. The program explores two of Stravinsky's most expressive orchestral works; from the Symphony of Psalms, where the Lund chorus performs with local choral forces in order to create a mixed chorus of more than 120 voices - to the opera-oratorio Oedipus Rex, based on Sofokles drama, which features numerous vocal soloists, including mezzo-soprano Michelle DeYoung, and the Lund Male Chorus who will perform the choral parts based on the libretto by Jean Cocteau.

The famous Swedish male chorus from the university town of Lund in southern Sweden, will perform a varied program of a cappella music by composers like Saint-Saëns and Estonian choral master Tormis. The choir will also sing Nordic music by composers like Stenhammar, Wikander, Söderman, and a new composition by the chorus' artistic director Andreas Lönnqvist.
