Preview of “Salt Wind” Elsa Nilsson Quartet at Rockwood Music Hall, stage 1

Combining the rich heritage of her Swedish homeland with modern jazz and varied musical influences from around the world, Nilsson and her quartet showcase arrangements of Swedish traditional music as well as original compositions. This performance will feature compositions off of the brand new record “Salt Wind” due to be released March 3, 2017. You can expect a wide range of styles to surface in an exciting journey through cultures and time periods as the band weaves new paths though the music.

Each member of the band brings his or her own flavor to the music, creating a cohesive thread in a cross-cultural musical exchange that holds jazz at its core. With Nilsson leading on flute, the band also features Jeff McLaughlin on guitar, Alex Minier on bass and Cody Rahn on drums and percussion.
