Sankta Lucia is a long held tradition in Sweden, recognizing the return of light after the dark winter.

This is Hope Covenant Church's 23rd Annual Swedish Christmas Breakfast. Traditional Swedish foods will be served such as cardamom coffee cake, sweet rye, hard tack, bond-ost cheese, pickled herring, rice pudding and lingonberries, and potato sausage. The pageant will include the Lucia Queen wearing the traditional crown of candles, and her attendants, who will also serve breakfast.

Miss Rachel Hampton, has been chosen Lucia Queen for this year’s pageant. Rachel is the daughter of Charlotte and Boyd Hampton of Lockport, and the granddaughter of James and Edith Ware of Lockport.

A very special program is also planned featuring a special musical guest, as well as Christmas carols with pianist Beverly Bovard.
