Parents pushing prams ride free

The Swedish bus system allows parents pushing prams to ride for free.

In some Swedish cities, parents pushing their babies in strollers get the benefit of riding the bus for free. They can use the large doors in the middle of the bus, and avoid trying to navigate the tight aisle altogether. They needn’t worry about leaving their child unattended in order to pay the driver, either.

Of course this is also a benefit for other passengers as well; it expedites their commute, avoiding delays and confusion, especially during heavily traveled times of day. Many cities offer free transport for all children under a certain age, too. In Stockholm for example, between Friday noon and Sunday evening, a passenger over 18 with proper ID can bring along a maximum of 6 children under the age of 12 years old for free.
