The Grammy Awards, which recognize outstanding achievement in the music industry, are given by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences of the United States and are among the world's finest music prizes. This year, after 20 years in the industry, Swedish music producer Max Martin finally won a Grammy for his work in non-classical music with, among others, singers Katy Perry and Taylor Swift. During his career, Martin has produced a total of 19 songs that reached number one on the U.S. Billboard charts.

In the category of best classical album by a solo artist, Swedish mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter was honored with a Grammy Award for Best Classical Solo Vocal Album for “Douce France,” a collection of two centuries of French songs by Fauré and Debussy, Piaf and Trenet. She shares her Grammy with Swedish pianist Bengt Forsberg.
