The study of the Viking age is a field experiencing increased popularity today. The old idea of the Vikings as representatives for a ruthless, violent culture in a distant part of Europe is now replaced by a more complete view. The seafaring Scandinavians with their art, complex religion, pioneering maritime and military spirit are now seen as founders of the idea of democracy. The more we learn about the Vikings, the clearer it becomes that this was a civilization as advanced as others civilizations in Europe.
This weekend seminar will feature speakers from Iceland, Norway and Canada. See more about the seminar in our brochure
The seminar is made possible through a collaboration between Saga Publishers International and The Center for Scandinavian Studies.
Admission to be announced.
