The Department of Scandinavian Studies and the Swenson Swedish Immigration Research Center at Augustana College are proud to present a film festival dedicated to modern Swedish film. Five films by Swedish directors will be screened free of charge throughout the week of October 11-15 in Room 102 in the Hanson Science Building at 7:00 PM. A one-day symposium with Swedish and American film scholars as well as Augustana College faculty and students will conclude the festival on Saturday October 16. The films to be screened are: Maria Larssons eviga ögonblick (Everlasting Moments), God afton, herr Wallenberg (Good Evening, Mr. Wallenberg), Män som hatar kvinnor (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Tillsammans (Together) and Låt den rätte komma in (Let the Right One In). The symposium participants are: Leif Furhammar, professor emeritus of film studies, University of Stockholm, Maaret Koskinen, professor of film studies, University of Stockholm, Rochelle Wright, professor emerita of Scandinavian and film, University of Illinois, Larry E. Scott, professor of Scandinavian at Augustana College, Kjell Hilding, digital production manager in the Department of Art History and Visual Arts at Occidental College in Los Angeles. |
