Join Dr. Thor Mednick (Associate Professor of Art History, University of Toledo) as he considers the paintings of Ejnar Nielsen (Danish, 1872-1956). He will argue that in Nielsen’s work, the quality and character of human consciousness is primarily determined by the mind. From Nielsen’s studies of Dagmar Andersen (a girl with vision impairment from his home county) to his reflections on death, Ejnar Nielsen’s world is one in which sight and touch are not entirely physical senses, but autonomic, æsthetic, and emotional projections of the human mind.
