Gunhild Carling never took a music lesson. She grew up in a Swedish family that simply played, and she taught herself trombone, her favorite, along with trumpet, harp, bagpipes, recorder and harmonica. She has been known to play several of them at the same time.

She has performed for King Carl XVI Gustaf at both his Ruby Jubilee and his 70th birthday, and she carries Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbecke and Billie Holiday in everything she sings. Now based in Northern California, she brings the whole traveling circus to Mason Street for two sets.
