The Swedish stugor (cottages) are open with their various wares of handmade items as well as vintage and collectible items, including traditional Scandinavian arts of rosmålning, dalamåling and delicious baked goods.

When the park opened in 1925 by Swedes who immigrated to Chicago, there was a campground for overnights. Eventually the tents were replaced by more permanent shelters, and by 1933 stugas (cottages) were built for purchase. Now the public can step back in time in the quaint Swedish cottages -- tour the homes (check the website to consider the cottage that’s for sale), stroll the grounds and learn more about its fascinating history.
