The Swedish parliament recently voted down a proposal for a ban.
No ban for cell phones while driving
While most European countries ban the use of handheld cell phones while driving, the resistance to do so in Sweden is strong. So strong in fact, that the parliament voted down the Green Party politician Karin Svensson Smiths proposal for a ban, with alarming numbers: 267 to 17. The majority of the parliament argues there isnt enough research on the combination of cell phones and road safety. Theres also the question of how such a ban would be monitored.
